SOMERSET, N.J. - Sept. 21, 2004 - Netilla ® Networks, Inc.,
a premier supplier of secure application access management solutions, today announced that it has been ranked as a "Challenger" in META Group's METAspectrumSM report for SSL Virtual Private Networks. META Group is a leading provider of information technology (IT) research, advisory services, and strategic consulting.
Netilla was specific all y recognized in the META Group report for its leadership and specialization in the area of secure application access. According to the METAspectrum analysis, the ability to access a broad range of applications - but without establishing a full network connection, as is required by some SSL VPN products - will continue to be a key priority in the growth of SSL-based virtual private networks.
"We developed METAspectrum to enable IT professionals to quickly evaluate vendors based on their ability to deliver on the presence and performance criteria that matter most in a given market," said Mark Bouchard, META Group senior program director, Security & Risk Strategies. "As they consider moving from an IPSec-based to an SSL-based virtual private network, network managers should be aware that the different solutions now available vary widely in the breadth of applications they can access without having to resort to a 'network extension' mode, which can be less secure than a proxy-based architecture."
"Netilla is pleased to be recognized as a Challenger in this comprehensive MetaSpectrum ranking," said Reggie Best, president and CEO of Netilla Networks. "For customers, the ability to access the full range of enterprise applications is crucial - and the Meta report correctly points out that proxy-based architectures are inherently more secure than other approaches. Netilla's unique 'thin client' approach can natively support browser-based access to virtu all y any application, whether Web-, Windows-, UNIX, or Linux-based. Our thin-client access is so unique, in fact, that the Meta report places us in our own sub-category."
Netilla offers two families of SSL VPN products: the newly introduced Secure Gateway Appliance (SGA) and the flagship Netilla Security Platform (NSP). The first model in the SGA lineup is Secure Gateway Appliance - C, which provides simple, secure remote access to Citrix ® MetaFrame ® Presentation Server-based applications for sm all to midsized enterprises. The higher-capacity, ICSA-certified NSP line offers three product classes (G, E and B) and three access options: thin, Web and tunnel. All Netilla products incorporate the dynaTRUST policy-enforcement operating system, Virtual Realms and an internal dynamic firewall.
