SOMERSET, N.J. - Feb. 25, 2003 - Netilla Networks, Inc., a leading
provider of secure sockets layer (SSL) virtual private network (VPN)
solutions for secure Web-based access to any corporate application,
today announced the appointment of Don Sullivan as executive vice president
of worldwide sales and marketing.
A broadly experienced technology industry veteran, Sullivan will be
responsible for setting strategic direction for all Netilla Networks
sales and marketing activities. He will direct Netilla's channel sales
teams for the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific, as well as manage relationships
with Netilla's distributors and integrators. The company's Netilla Security Platform is marketed exclusively through a global network of value-added
resellers.
"Don Sullivan is a seasoned pro with the credentials and commitment
to manage Netilla's worldwide sales and marketing programs as we continue
to grow rapidly in both the U.S. and abroad," said Reggie Best,
president and chief executive of Netilla Networks. "Netilla will
benefit greatly not just from Don's proven expertise in building brand
awareness and driving sales, but from his invaluable experience at the
helm of successful technology companies."
"I'm very excited to be joining Netilla Networks, a leading innovator
in the red-hot SSL VPN marketplace," said Sullivan. "I look
forward to applying my experience to help us efficiently extend the
Netilla brand into even more markets, here and around the world."
Among Sullivan's top priorities will be capitalizing on the growing
interest in SSL VPNs by highlighting Netilla's unique advantages: thin-client
access to legacy applications, and the Netilla SecureRealm Framework,
which allows the creation of distinct user realms, each of which can
present various stages of authentication and authorization policies.
Sullivan's experience spans three successful startups. Most recently,
he served as executive vice president for On board Info, LLC, a Web
services company in the online travel industry, where he developed sales
and marketing strategies and ultimately sold the business to a travel
software company. Prior to joining On Board Info, Sullivan was executive
vice president and chief operating officer of Samson Information Technologies,
where he was responsible for corporate sales, marketing and operations.
His leadership there helped to build Samson's brand recognition in the
mid-market reseller community.
Prior to joining Samson InfoTech, Sullivan served as president of Cray
Communications, the North American subsidiary of Cray Electronics PLC.
In this position, he established the business's core plan for product
development, resulting in a major earnings turnaround in the first year
of his tenure, and in the development of several successful data communications
products.
Sullivan's experience with these networking companies will be directly
applicable to Netilla and to the SSL VPN marketplace. Industry observers
predict that clientless, SSL-based VPNs are poised for dramatic growth
over the next several years because of their clientless operation (leveraging
standard Web browsers instead of specially loaded PC software), fast
deployment and ability to work with existing data center servers.
The Netilla Security Platform is an appliance that enables enterprises
to provide remote workers with secure access to centralized corporate
applications via just a Web browser. It marks a significant advance
over existing virtual private networking (VPN) alternatives by eliminating
the time and cost of installing VPN client or application software on
the remote user's PC. Netilla provides seamless remote access to Windows,
UNIX/Linux and even mainframe applications, with no modifications to
central application servers.
