Somerset, NJ, & Santa Cruz, CA, March 27, 2001
Netilla(sm) Networks, Inc. (www.netilla.com), the service company that
supplies secure Web access to office applications, today announced that
it had formed a strategic relationship with Tarantella, Inc., a wholly
owned subsidiary of The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOC) and
maker of the Tarantella Enterprise 3 Web-enabling software.
Under a recently signed agreement, Netilla Networks will customize
Tarantella software and integrate it into its Netilla Virtual Office(sm)
service, which is scheduled for introduction in Q2 2001. The companies
will work jointly to generate additional revenue opportunities for each
organization.
Netilla Virtual Office service allows business users at off-site work
locations to easily access files, e-mail, and other shared software
applications residing on their office networks via a browser. A subscription
service, it will be resold through a network of systems integrators,
value-added resellers and other solution providers.
Said Netilla Networks CEO Reginald (Reggie) Best: "The Tarantella
software provides key technology for Web-enabling shared applications.
With it, our Netilla Virtual Office service becomes a secure extension
cord to a company's critical data from any location - a field office,
a client's office, a telecommuter's home or any other remote site. All
that's needed is a Web browser."
"Tarantella is very enthusiastic about Netilla Networks and its
bundled offering because it opens up another distribution channel, enabling
us to reach the small and medium-sized business market. Many SMBs need
low start-up costs as well as predictable cost of ownership," said
Edmundo Costa, vice president of World Wide Channel Sales for Tarantella.
Noting that Tarantella had participated in Netilla Networks' Series
A round of funding, he added, "Netilla Virtual Office service offers
a unique value proposition for this underserved market segment and we
felt confident that we share strategic objectives."
